- Big Red Drum at Wrightsville Beach - Posted to Rod-Man Charters Fishing Report by SFTC Press
Hi Folks,
When we are not catching spanish we are fighting some pretty nice red drum on lite tackle. Spanish macs have been the fish of this season thus far, but we cannot forget our popular inshore friends the reds, flounder and trout. Fall fishing is just around the corner and all three will be chomping.
A note for your address book. I am changing my email address to rodman@rodmancharters.com. please make a note or change in your address book. Thank you.
Now here’s my report:

Hi folks, Capt. David here with the scoop on whats biting! The sound is full of Redfish and they are all along the waterway in 1-3 feet of water. Here is a tip for finding a school of Reds. Watch the baitfish schools as they move down the edge and look for swirls or bait jumping in the air. I have also found fish by looking at where the baitfish are swinging out away from the bank as if they are circling around something. A fat 4 inch Pogey or Finger mullet on a Carolina rig or float rig.. I hope everybody is doing well and catching a few fish! I have got to say I’m glad Fay did not make it up here, but her power was felt up this way. We’ve had some very strong east winds the last couple of days, which has kept me out of the ocean and in the back water areas. Before the blow we did some good ocean fishing for Flounder and Gray trout.
Most of the flounder inshore are mixed in size, but the fish in the ocean are a little better in.. (Read More)- Reel Adventure 8-25-08 report & VIDEO. Carolina Beach Fishing &Wrightsville Beach is HOT!! - Posted to Reel-Adventure Charters Fishing Report by SFTC Press

Be sure to see our new video below of us catching the sharks on fly. This is one of four new videos that I have just finished. The fishing is heating up and we have quite a few great dates available in Sept. and October. The fishing report is the same as last week even though the ocean has been considerably rougher. On the piers people are reporting catches of croaker, flounder, black drum, bluefish, sheepshead. In the surf people are catching flounder, bluefish, puppy drum, croaker, & Virginia mullet. Inshore people are reporting catches of large bluefish, speckled trout, red drum, flounder, croaker, Virginia mullet, & sheepshead. Offshore there are reports of king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, sailfish, & dolphin. On the bottom there are reports of amberjack, grouper, grunts, snapper, black bass, & pinkies.

The inshore fishing has been good lately with catches of red drum, speckled trout, flounder, spanish mackerel, and sheephead.
The speckled trout fishing has picked up a little over the past week and should only get better.
My customers have had several inshore slams recently and one guy had a triple inshore slam with 10 specs, 6 reds, and 3 flounders.
The redfishing on the flats fishing has slowed a little due the high winds and above normal low tides. I am confident the fish are still there but just harder to find in these conditions. We are still catching good numbers.. (Read More)- Carolina Fishing Report 8-15-08 - Posted to LiveLine Charters Fishing Report by SFTC Press
Had a great group of guys from all over in town for a work meeting and took a day to do some fishing. The weatherman was nice with a light NE wind and calm seas. The guys wanted to get a work out so we went out 20 miles to play with the AJs. The 1st line in the water was a nice Cuda that was hooked in the corner of the jaw so he didn’t cut through the mono. We worked on the AJs most of the day with live bait and jigging. Had a couple over 40.. Colton and Mike McCue, Amanda and Noel Bergeron from Asheville, NC with nice catches of Flounder, Blues and Grey Trout.
Sorry I’ve been behind on the fishing reports, here are some pictures of the past weeks catches.
We’ve been catching some nice Flounder and Red Drum in the inlets and ICW. Right off shore about 2 miles we have been catching Spanish Mackerel in the 3 and 4 pound range. They have been a blast to sight cast to. Also we have had a great fight while catching Spade Fish on light tackle.

Nice sea conditions have allowed going to the gulf stream.
Catch of blackfin tuna, wahoo and mahi! A blue marlin was hooked at the 100 fathom curve. The fishing should only get better and was told the yellow fin were down off of Charleston last week. They should be making their way north in the next couple of weeks.
The blackfin were caught way back behind the boat! Long lines were 200 plus yards out. Light leader and small baits were the ticket. Sreader bar rigs also scored well on the tuna!

The beautiful thing about the Carolina coast, is that there is always a fish that you can catch. Right now, it is grouper time. Along with Grouper, there are snapper, Black Sea Bass, and Grunts to be caught. IF you find the fish it can be non-stop action all day. The best thing about it is that all of those fish also make great table fare. The Striped Bass are also biting well this time of the year, and they can provide a fun, hard fight. Book your summer trips now, and gurantee your spot.

The fishing has been good and thankfully I have been busy. I want to thank all of my repeat clients for coming down in the fall and over the Holidays to enjoying the great fall/winter fishing. Winter fishing has arrived with speckled trout, striped bass, and red drum. Most of the fish have been caught on artificial lures and live bait. Everyone has enjoyed the new trolling motor, It allows us to cover lots of ground and makes lure fishing a blast.

Surf fishing in duck really turned on over the past two days. Black drum, puppy drum, bluefish, sea mullet, and trout have all made a great showing. Jay Bender reported catching 18 speckled trout last night behind the Hampton Inn, and catching 25 behind Sharky’s this morning. The Sea Hag with Captain Frank McCargo fished a half day trip this morning and caught a limit of nice sized king mackerel, a nice jack, and a black tip shark. Frank was fishing at the AR145. It’s time for Spanish Mackerel and I’m here to tell you there are plenty out there. The piers are getting their share of Spanish. The size is still a little small. The biggest I have heard of was around one and a half pounds. Five to ten miles out there are plenty of mid-size King Mackerel around the fifteen-pound range. On the bottom, Black Bass and Snapper are really starting to bite. If you run to the Gulf Stream, well, that’s another story. Plenty of Tuna and Wahoo and some are trophy size. The surf has been producing some.. (Read More)- - Posted to Hoo Dini Charters Fishing Reports by
