Headhunter Outdoors Report 2-25-08

February 25th, 2008 by SFTC Press

Hi folks, Capt. David here with this weeks outdoors report. Nothing much is happening yet folks. A few Blues, an occasional Trout and maybe a red here and there. The weather forecasters are calling for a early spring so maybe it will start the fish biting. The best thing I can tell you is to get your gear ready because when it starts, it’s going to be good!
Turkey season is coming up soon and I’m already getting ready. I went with two off my good friends this past weekend up near Sparta N.C. to convert an old block building on some family property he has, into a hunting shack. We replaced some of the roofing tin and built bunks and a wood stove. We replaced a couple of window panes and cleaned the place up good. Now some of my women readers might not understand about huntin’ camps but I’m sure some of you guys do. It’s a place where memories are made, Lies are told and testosterone oozes from the walls. One of the guys took his 5 year old son with us and I’ll bet you he will remember it for life! One of these days it will be his to pass to his son along with the good memories and traditions that will come. The smell of the wood stove and the company of good friends!
One evening I counted 14 deer and 23 turkeys in the field within a hundred yards and those deer were BIG ya’ll! I know that when season comes in they will become scarce as hens teeth but the prospect is there for some excellent hunting and I can’t wait. You folks need to be getting ready cause I am and remember what the man said” If you ain’t first you’re last!
Well thats it for this week folks,so be safe and take a kid with you! Capt. David
