Headhunter Outdoors Report 6-18-07
June 18th, 2007 by SFTC PressHi folks,Capt. David with this weeks outdoors report. I sure hope the wind will lay down because I’m tired of it! This is June, not March. Enough ranting about the weather folks, lets talk fishing. Offshore everything is biting, From bottom fish to pelagics, pick your poison ladies and gents. Kings are being caught from the piers on out. That’s good news for you small boat folks. Just remember to be careful and pay attention going through the inlet. Speaking of the inlet, the Corps of Enginners were dredging Topsail inlet this past week. I don’t know if the buoys are correct yet so be careful!
The piers are reporting Kings, Spanish, Blues, Cobia, Pompano, lounder, Red drum and Black Drum, Sheepshead and everything else. Inshore the Reds are biting good but are scattered. If you find a school don’t tell anybody but me! OK! Seriously there are a lot of nice fish all along the waterway and one spot is about as good as another. If I told you where they were it wouldn’t be as much fun. The live bait is getting better as well. A good cast net in the back off the creeks will turn up Finger mullet, Menhaden, and Shrimp. On a Carolina rig or a float rig you can catch about anything with these baits.
Well I’ve got to go folks the water is calling or was that my wife? Huh guess I’ll go fishing! Till next week, Tight line and Screaming drags to all of you. Hey take a kid fishing too! Capt. David
