- Good Fishing 4th of July Week - Posted to Rod-Man Charters Fishing Report by SFTC Press
Hi Folks, We have had a few days of breezy weather but not real bad, and things have calmed back down shaping things up for a nice holiday weekend. I had a day off yesterday and enjoyed some early morning topwater action with redfish.
Now here’s my report:Redfishing has heated up and fish are biting very well. Live bait has moved into the area and the reds seem to like it. Flounder are doing well near the inlets and some are biting in Snow’s Cut and the river. A few big bluefish in the 6 pound range have been terrorizing.. Today I had John Ribble and Paul Rocha and his son aboard for the third year in a row shark fishing. These are some awesome guys and I look foward to our trip every year as much as they do. We just click and a good time is had by all!
In 2006 we slayed them and they were hooked from there on! 2007 we missed out due to no shrimp boats that day. Well today I was able to redeem myself and it was a huge relief to do so. The first 3 hits on 5o lb stand up.. (Read More)- Topsail & Surf City Outdoors-Fishing Report 7-1-08 - Posted to Headhunter Outdoors Report by SFTC Press
Hi folks, Capt. David here with this weeks outdoors report. I really need to come up with a new opening line, don’t I? Well anyway lets talk fishing. Folks the Reds are everywhere and if you ain’t catching them you must be fishing to deep. This time of the year the schools of baitfish are up in the shallow water. If you want to know how shallow, Knee deep or less! The Flounder are right up on the bank too! Folks a Finger Mullet on a Carolina rig can’t be beat right now. Throw that sucker up next just.. Fishing has been on and off the past few days, but when it’s on it’s on. Check out the photos with this grand slam of the day. Flounder, Blues, Red Drum, Speckled Trout these guys had a blast.
Inshore - the Flounder fishing has been great now the Finger Mullet have finally moved in which is even better. Speckled Trout fishing is still doing well in the Cape Fear River. Red Drum fishing has been good around the docks in the ICW. Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach Inlets have some of these fish in the 30 inch.. Inshore the flounder bite has picked up. A lot of small speckled trout, bluefish, some red & black drum, a few Virginia mullet, croaker, & lots of sharks.
In the surf small flounder, red drum, bluefish, Virginia mullet, & croaker.
On the piers bluefish, small flounder, croaker, shard, & Spanish mackerel.
Offshore on the bottom red & gag grouper, snapper, beeliners, black bass, grunts, & sharks.
Fishing tip of the week: This time of year it is a lot of fun to go to the mouth of the Cape Fear River & hook up with large black tip & hammerhead sharks. If you.. (Read More)- Tournament Report “Jolly-Mon” Ocean Isle - Posted to LiveLine Charters Fishing Report by SFTC Press
We fished the 1st tournament of the year for us on Sunday. Started the morning looking for bait and it was not pleasant. We started at 4:30 and finally settled for very small pogies around 0800. Headed out to the Shark Hole off South port. There were only a couple of boats and we immediately had action but everything was 10 lbs or less. Decide to anchor up and try chumming since the baits were a little small. We did watch a nice fish get boated (found out later it was the tournament winner 39 lbs). We had plenty.. The inshore fishing continues to be good with catches of red drum, speckled trout, flounder, black drum, sheephead, spanish mackerel and bluefish.
I have been concertrating my efforts on redfish and speckled trout lately and picking up a few flounder, black drum, ladyfish, and bluefish mixed in.
The spanish mackerel have been thick right off the beach.
The speckled trout bite has slacked off a bit but we are still catching them on the nicer days with light winds.
The redfish bite has been good. We just have to cover some water and locate the small schools around oyster points and docks. Some.. (Read More)- Carolina Beach Dolphin - Posted to Lookout Charters Fishing Reports by Capt. Mike Dennis

Hello folks, is it hot enough for ya?? Summer has really started to show and feel around eastern North Carolina. The good thing is it’s a good reason to get out on the water to cool off and do some fishing! Don’t forget your sunscreen and polarized sunglasses on those bright sunny days; they can be a life saver! Let’s talk fishing.
The Spanish mackerel have still been biting good to great on most days. Most of the Spanish are biting Clark spoons trolled behind #1 planner’s. Nice sea conditions have allowed going to the gulf stream.
Catch of blackfin tuna, wahoo and mahi! A blue marlin was hooked at the 100 fathom curve. The fishing should only get better and was told the yellow fin were down off of Charleston last week. They should be making their way north in the next couple of weeks.
The blackfin were caught way back behind the boat! Long lines were 200 plus yards out. Light leader and small baits were the ticket. Sreader bar rigs also scored well on the tuna!

The beautiful thing about the Carolina coast, is that there is always a fish that you can catch. Right now, it is grouper time. Along with Grouper, there are snapper, Black Sea Bass, and Grunts to be caught. IF you find the fish it can be non-stop action all day. The best thing about it is that all of those fish also make great table fare. The Striped Bass are also biting well this time of the year, and they can provide a fun, hard fight. Book your summer trips now, and gurantee your spot.

The fishing has been good and thankfully I have been busy. I want to thank all of my repeat clients for coming down in the fall and over the Holidays to enjoying the great fall/winter fishing. Winter fishing has arrived with speckled trout, striped bass, and red drum. Most of the fish have been caught on artificial lures and live bait. Everyone has enjoyed the new trolling motor, It allows us to cover lots of ground and makes lure fishing a blast.

Surf fishing in duck really turned on over the past two days. Black drum, puppy drum, bluefish, sea mullet, and trout have all made a great showing. Jay Bender reported catching 18 speckled trout last night behind the Hampton Inn, and catching 25 behind Sharky’s this morning. The Sea Hag with Captain Frank McCargo fished a half day trip this morning and caught a limit of nice sized king mackerel, a nice jack, and a black tip shark. Frank was fishing at the AR145. It’s time for Spanish Mackerel and I’m here to tell you there are plenty out there. The piers are getting their share of Spanish. The size is still a little small. The biggest I have heard of was around one and a half pounds. Five to ten miles out there are plenty of mid-size King Mackerel around the fifteen-pound range. On the bottom, Black Bass and Snapper are really starting to bite. If you run to the Gulf Stream, well, that’s another story. Plenty of Tuna and Wahoo and some are trophy size. The surf has been producing some.. (Read More)- - Posted to Hoo Dini Charters Fishing Reports by
